Swords are a weapon type in Veloren. The sword's abilities feature slashing and piercing damage. Slashing damage reduces the enemy's energy and does extra damage when the enemy is out of energy.


Basic attacks

The basic left click and right click attacks.

Icon Name Description
Basic Double Slash A basic two-hit combo.
Basic Thrust Charging the thrust will make it more powerfull.


Basic sword skills

The basic sword skills are the most simple forms of all sword skills. These can change depending on the sword stance used.

Icon Name Description
Finisher An ability that consumes combo and is meant to end a fight.

The finisher will be different depending on your stance.

Skewer A stabbing lung.
Fell Strike A quick strong slash.
Crescent Slash An upwards diagonal slash.
Cascade An overhead slash.
Cross Cut A right and left slash.


Agile sword stance

The agile sword stance is a stance that focuses on mobility during combat at the cost of raw damage.

Icon Name Description
Quick Draw Dash forward as you draw your blade for a quick attack.

(Required: Cross Cut or Skewer.)

Dancing Edge Move and attack more swiftly.

(Required: Quick Draw.)

Feint Step to the side then back before striking

(Required: Cross Cut or Skewer.)

Flurry Multiple rapid stabs.

(Required: Feint.)


Crippling Sword Stance

The crippling sword stance focuses on bleed which does damage over time.

Icon Name Description
Gouge Inflict a lasting wound on your enemy that will continue to bleed.

(Required: Skewer or Fell Strike.)

Bloody Gash Cruelly strike an already bleeding wound, does more damage to bleeding enemies.

(Required: Gouge.)

Hamstring Injure the tendons of your foe, leaving them less maneuverable.

(Required: Skewer or Fell Strike.)

Eviscerate Shreds wounds further, deals more damage to crippled enemies.

(Required: Hamstring.)


Defensive Sword Stance

The Defensive Sword Stance focuses on parrying and reducing/blocking incoming damage.

Icon Name Description
Riposte Parry a strike before instantly counter-attacking.

(Required: Fell Strike or Crescent Slash.)

Stalwart Sword Shrug of the brunt of attacks, incoming damage is reduced.

(Required: Riposte.)

Disengage Retreat a step backwards after striking.

(Required: Fell Strike or Crescent Slash.)

Deflect A swift enough maneuver to even block attacks.

(Required: Disengage.)


Cleaving Sword Stance

The cleaving sword stance focuses on wide attacks with a large area of effect.

Icon Name Description
Whirlwind Slice Strike all surrounding enemies with circular attacks.

(Required: Cross Cut or Cascade.)

Blade Fever Attack more recklessly, increasing the power of your strikes while while leaving yourself open to incoming attacks.

(Required: Whirlwind Slice.)

Earth Splitter Split the earth, if used while falling will have a much stronger impact.

(Required: Cross Cut or Cascade.)

Sky Splitter A powerfull strike that purportedly can even split the sky, but will split through enemies.

(Required: Earth Splitter.)


Heavy Sword Stance

The heavy sword stance focuses on slow but powerfull attacks.

Icon Name Description
Pommel Strike Concuss your foe with a blunt strike to the head.

(Required: Cascade or Crescent Slash.)

Pillar Thrust Stab your sword through down to the enemy, all the way into the ground, is more powerful if used while falling.

(Required: Pommel Strike.)

Heavy Sweep A heavy, wide ,sweeping strike that deals more damage to a staggered enemy.

(Required: Cascade or Crescent Slash.)

Fortitude Increases stagger resistance and as you take more damage your attacks will be more staggering.

(Required: heavy Sweep.)
