Veloren (/ vɪlɔɹn /, ve-LOR-en, from German/Dutch verloren ("lost")) is an open-source multiplayer open-world voxel role-playing game developed by a community of volunteers and written in Rust Language. The game currently has builds for Windows, Linux, and MacOS.
The game has taken inspiration from games such as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, and Cube World.
Veloren is fully open-source and it licensed under GPL 3. The graphics, music and other assets are all originally created by its community. Being contributor-driven, its community consists of developers, players, artists and musicians, all coming together to developing the game.
The development of the game started in mid-2018. There are around 20 active developers working on the game, with another 20 artists, writers, designers, and composers contributing as well. Over 150 people have contributed to the project.
