Melee Class

This feature is currently still in the design phase, and has not yet been implemented in Veloren. All information on this page may not be final and subject to change.

The Melee Class is the Strength focused class. Each specialization is focused on melee combat, with skills that benefit from fighting in close quarters. When this class is chosen, your character gains +3 Strength per training level.

Base Skills

Intercept

Main article: Intercept

Choosing Intercept opens up the Dexterity subtree, and the Assassin and Duelist specializations become available.

Description Dash forward with your weapon held in front of you, dealing damage to any enemy in your path.
After choosing this skill, you gain +2 Dexterity/training level

Smash

Main article: Smash

Choosing Smash opens up the Strength subtree, and the Beserker and Knight specializations become available.

Description Leap forward, dealing damage to enemies around you on landing

Whirlwind

Main article: Whirlwind

Choosing Whirlwind opens up the Intelligence subtree, and the Guardian and Battlemage specializations become available.

Damage 125% base (+15%/level)
Defense 30% (+10%/level)
Description Spin around with your weapon held out, attacking all enemies around you and blocking some incoming damage.
After choosing this skill, you gain +2 Intelligence/training level

Specializations

Assassin

The Assassin is one of two classes under the Melee Dexterity subtree. This class requires the Intercept skill.

Passive
Deal double crit damage on unware enemies.
Stealth

Cast Time 1.0s (-0.1s/level)
Description Go undetected by your enemies. While active, you generate stealth. While in stealth, enemies are unable to detect you, even if you are in combat. Stealth will degenerate while you are walking, and will degenerate faster if you are running. This aura does not begin cooldown until stealth runs out or until the skill is toggled off, and does not regenerate until it is reactivated.

Description Your next attack has 100% chance to crit, and will do extra crit damage.
Pirouette

Description Leap into the air, putting your full body into a brutal swing.

Duelist

The Duelist is one of two classes under the Melee Dexterity subtree. This class requires the Intercept skill.

Passive
Your secondary weapon increases its damage to match your primary weapon.
Double Strike

Description Your next attack will use both weapons in quick succession, dealing extra damage with each hit.
Pirouette

Description Leap into the air, putting your full body into a brutal swing.

Beserker

The Beserker is one of two classes under the Melee Strength subtree. This class requires the Smash skill.

Passive
Each successive attack increases your attack speed and mana regeneration.
Rage

Defense -50% (-5%/level)
Description Enter a state of Rage, dealing extra damage with each attack. While active, you deal extra damage at the cost of defense, and are immune to Slow and Rooted.

Description Bash the enemy with the equipment in your off hand, dealing significant damage.

Knight

The Knight is one of two classes under the Melee Strength subtree. This class requires the Smash skill.

Passive
Shields will have double their Defense while equipped.
Sunder

Description Strike the ground in front of you, creating a rift in the ground that damages enemies in its path.

Description Bash the enemy with the equipment in your off hand, dealing significant damage.
Bulwark

Defense 20% (+5%/level)
Duration 8s (+1s/level)
Description Summon phantom shields around yourself and allies that block some incoming damage.

Guardian

The Guardian is one of two classes under the Melee Intelligence subtree. This class requires the Whirlwind skill.

Passive
You have an extra armor (110%), and for every 10 armor you have your allies gain 10% of their own.
Barricade

Health 200% of your health (+50%/level)
Heal 1%/s (+1%/level)
Description Summon a wall in front of you that is capable of withstanding a massive amount of damage and providing light healing. It will remain standing until broken or until time runs out.

Battlemage

The Battlemage is one of two classes under the Melee Intelligence subtree. This class requires the Whirlwind skill.

A portion of incoming damage (10%) is redirected to your mana pool.
Spectral Axe

Description Summon an axe made of dark energy and throw it at the target.
